Building a Waterfall
Everyone is fascinated by seeing and hearing a waterfall admit. Many people want then this piece of nature lodge in their pond, and it rightly so, as a waterfall in the ornamental pond provides a playful and attractive character.
In addition to these properties, a waterfall some practical aspects such as enriching the water with oxygen and water circulation which clearly improves with the presence of a waterfall, some pond life benefits.
If we want to build a waterfall we must make sure that the falling water does not dominate, because then a waterfall can be irritating rather than soothing. A waterfall of about 80 cm high is about 50 m far audible. Be careful with this.
In this article you will learn how to build a standard waterfall – which is a bit of a matter of personal taste, and what ways exist to achieve a waterfall.
A waterfall we can build in two ways.
- In the market, there are pre-shaped prefabricated construction elements in order to create a waterfall. Construction in a simple manner These elements come in different shapes and sizes. Especially for smaller ornamental ponds, these very suitable. It’s the easiest way to explain a waterfall and is therefore very well suited for people who are not so convenient. However, these elements are quite expensive.
- A second way is to make it completely self a waterfall construction with polyester fil, pebbles and flat stones. To taste and insight, we can build the waterfall.
As stated earlier, a waterfall can be done to everyone’s taste: wide, narrow, high, low, soft or rough waterfall, it all goes.
A good and solid foundation is very important because a homemade waterfall has a lot of weight. A good support is very important. There are several possibilities to make. This may be of wood, whether or not preserved, or in hardwood. We can also build in the base. The principle remains the same.
A waterfall can consists of several levels. The steps we are about 40 cm wide and the height we hold a 20 to 25 cm. So we make at this waterfall three discharging levels. Between the wood or concrete structure we perform ground and pushing it very well. We bring sufficient ground. Behind the waterfall this ensures that our waterfall construction will be very stable.
Do not forget to advance a gut to work from the pond edge to the back of the waterfall into the ground. This intestine will be attached later to the pump and so our cascade of water will be provided.
After the base construction, the building the cascades come with flat stones and boulders. With a liner pond, we make the waterfall with at least 0.8 mm thick sheet when we make the polyester ponds waterfall on polyester. When applying polyester film, we must ensure that our water can not drain. Along the waterfall edges we will have to increase polyester as we’ll make a landing in the pond edge.
Of course, our waterfalls are not finished yet. Without the necessary stones and edging, we can not exactly speak of a successful design. The finish is to everyone’s taste and imagination. This article is about the construction of a standard waterfall in a natural atmosphere.
For the force we use 30-40 cm wide and 60-70 long rubble from 4 to 6 cm thick. For edging, we use natural stone with broken edges and boulders. For the edges, we use 15 to 20 cm high stone slabs.
Before we turn to each other all the elements, we would do well to advance already put the whole. Together This can be quite a puzzle drawing because the stones are not always ideal to fit together. The patience is also required.Spend enough time here, because it is a very important phase. We always work beneath upwards.
First we take the break stones, which form the act on our behalf and then the smaller stones as edging. We build in the rubble stone on the polyester. The edges we add also on. The stones for the edging we set firmly in specie. We do this for the first firmness, of course, but also in order to prevent that the water starts to search among and between the bricks. Way It is envisaged that the water runs over the stones and not vice versa. For a natural environment we dress the act with boulders, but to give the waterfall in its entirety a natural view, we also process boulders in the shade next to the waterfall.
A waterfall may not be so natural, without planting it goes on to the surrounding garden we can hardly speak of a natural waterfall. A waterfall may not be in the spotlight, but needs a bit hidden. With the necessary plants we can do this. The following is a list of suitable plants for finishing the waterfall.Commercially you can find beautiful small trees (often Acer, maples) with a shape that is very suitable for planting at a waterfall. Branches hanging low over the water is very decorative.
